A meteor shower appears throughout the month

Astronomers on Earth are about to see the Eta Aquarids meteor shower lasting for a month, which takes place from April 20 to May 21.

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower occurred when Earth moved through the tail of Halley's comet . The climax of a meteor shower will start from May 5 to 7, according to IFL Science (USA).

This is the weakest phase of the moon in the month because the Moon has just entered the new cycle, or the new moon. The moon will be defective and the sky is dark enough to see the meteor. The best time to watch is early morning and night.

Fragments from Halley's comet tail will invade the atmosphere and friction with the air. They ignite and create light streaks in the sky.

Earth residents can observe Eta Aquarids when looking up at the sky in the constellation Aquarius. People living in the Southern Hemisphere will see more clearly. At peak time, this place can observe about 30 meteors every hour.

Meteor will be less likely to occur in the northern hemisphere, especially at the equator. However, if the weather conditions are favorable, about 10 stars can be observed every hour.

One of the best ways to watch meteor at night is to go out into the dark for about 30 minutes to adapt to low light conditions. In addition, meteor will be easier to see if away from lights.

Meteor shower is a phenomenon that occurs when a series of space rocks move into the atmosphere, friction with the air and ignite . This process produces heat and light, creating a lot of beautiful flares in the sky. Meteor shower can last a few days or weeks.

According to the US Aeronautics Agency (NASA), if a space rock burns completely in the atmosphere called a meteor. Many meteors appear at the same time called meteor shower. Larger rocks, not burning up in the atmosphere and plunging to the ground called meteors.
