A meteorite approaches the Earth

Yesterday (June 27), a new meteorite was discovered, about the size of an office building flying close to Earth at a distance of nearly 23 times the distance between our planet and the Moon. .

According to the Telegraph , the 2011 MD meteorite was discovered on June 22 by a telescope located in New Mexico state (USA). Scientists warn, the meteorite is estimated to be about 9 - 45m across our Earth at a distance of nearly 18,000 km on June 27 and can be observed with a small telescope.

Locations that can be observed in the 2011 MD meteorite as it approaches Earth are areas in South America. When approaching the Earth's atmosphere, this meteorite is as bright as a star, but then quickly fades away.

Although flying through the Earth at very close distances, scientists claim that the 2011 MD meteorite is unlikely to enter the Earth's atmosphere.

' If the 2011 MD meteorite enters the Earth's atmosphere, it will burn like a fireball, which can form small meteor showers. However, we are sure that the 2011 MD meteorite will not collide with our planet , 'said Dr. Emily Baldwin, a British meteorite expert.

Previously, scientists also predicted that the 400-meter-wide YU55 meteorite and 50 million tons could fly close to Earth in the Moon's orbit on November 8, 2011. If this prediction is correct, this will be the largest meteor so far flying near Earth.
