Add a new risk to Office users

Picture 1 of Add a new risk to Office users There was an additional vulnerability discovered in the Microsoft Office suite and hacked by hackers to attack users.

The above security bug was officially discovered and announced on July 12, just one day after Microsoft released a monthly security update.

In a warning message released on July 12, Symantec's security experts said it was an unknown security bug in the Microsoft PowerPoint application. Therefore, there has not been any patch to overcome the above security error.

This security error only affects the Microsoft Office application suite.

Microsoft, in a statement sent via email yesterday (July 13), said the company has conducted further investigation of this security error.

Microsoft has identified attacks that are exploited by taking advantage of that security bug, but these are only very limited targets. In order to successfully exploit this security error, the attacker must trick the user into opening a malicious PowerPoint file.

Security firm Symantec said, just like a security bug in Excel, a PowerPoint security flaw could allow an attacker to gain full control over the system that was affected. " If the user opens a malicious PowerPoint file, the security error will be exploited and the attacker has succeeded. Successfully exploiting this security error will mean allowing a remote attacker to be able to executing malicious code on the user's system ".

Microsoft said it will take appropriate steps to protect users after completing the investigation of the newly discovered security flaw. It is possible that the company will issue a security bulletin warning users or issuing a patch in a monthly security update.

Also yesterday, Microsoft said there are still two other security bugs in Excel that have not been patched and have been exploited in attacks.
