Air pollution in Beijing reached a record
The level of air pollution in Beijing's capital skyrocketed to the highest level in history and an official warned children and the elderly should not be outdoors.

AFP said the US embassy in Beijing City has conducted an assessment of air pollution levels here. The results show that air quality in Beijing is so low that it is outside the US air pollution index.
