Airplanes do not need to be parked

The US military is targeting a spy plane that can loop in the sky for five years.

The mission of the DARPA is to come up with useful new ideas, one of which is called the Vulture. It's a cheap spy satellite - a robot that can fly in the sky for five years or more.

Why do you need this kind of plane? First, it's because a real satellite can cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and sometimes it's not really necessary. For example, if the military wants to look at a sensitive area, or if a cable company wants to send a signal to the subscriber, they do not need to use the satellite for hundreds of miles, just one device. It can fly 12-20 miles high. And then the Vulture solution would be much more effective.

The Vulture Project is an airplane that can maintain high altitude for more than five years to conduct surveillance, surveillance or telecommuting in a wide space. The challenge in this project is technology to manage energy and stability, allowing the aircraft to operate continuously.

Aurora Flight Sciences, based in Virginia, designed a prototype called Odysseus to be sent to the research agency. However, DARPA is still considering that similar ideas have hit the ground before. If Aurora's idea succeeds, DARPA hopes it will fly so high enough that people on the ground can see, but hear noises from it.
