Artist Echaroux projected a Surui face image onto the tree in the hope of preventing deforestation.
Instead of street painting on walls or subway stations, photographer and painter Philippe Echaroux used the Amazon forest in Brazil, as a backdrop for environmental propaganda works.
Artist Echaroux used a projector to portray the faces of the Surui tribesmen on the canopy of luxuriant green trees in the Amazon forest .
"The Surui tribe are victims of large-scale deforestation and illegal gold miners. They do not hesitate to encroach on this Indian tribal territory, to recover precious stones and metals," Echaroux said.
By projecting images of Surui's faces on devastated forests, the French artist hopes the international community will care about their situation.
"When you cut down trees, it is like blocking a man's life," Echaroux said.
The screening work called Street Art 2.0 was designed by Echaroux after the Indian leader Almir Surui Narayamoga called for the situation of this tribe to be concerned.
Street painters said their technique conveyed a strong message while still very friendly to the environment.
Artist Echaroux said this is the first work in his series of environmental advocacy projects worldwide.
