AMD Imageon processor for mobile phones
AMD has just introduced three new processors that promise to meet the growing demand for mobile phone graphics and video. These new models appear to enrich the stream of media processors that were previously marketed with the ATI brand.
Processors 2294 and 2298 allow users to view and record DVD resolution videos (720x480 pixels). These chips support digital cameras that deliver images with resolutions up to 12 megapixels, audio and TV, phones and videos.
Processor Imageon 2192 towards mobile phones with the ability to create images up to 3.1 megapixels. The processor also supports watching TV as well as supporting images for phone images with images.
All 3 Imageon microprocessors allow users to play 3D games on their phones. Imageo processors are currently used by Motorola, LG, Fujitsu, Samsung as well as several other small handset manufacturers.
Motorola's model using this processor is SLVR, RAZR, MOTORIZR and MOTOKRZR .
In the announcement, AMD said it would start licensing graphics technology for handheld devices.
