AMD is fighting again with Intel

Picture 1 of AMD is fighting again with Intel The second largest processor in the world underestimates Intel's claims of performance in the next generation of Conroe and Merom chips.

Previously, Mooley Eden, Intel's mobile platform manager, confirmed that the chip versions introduced in the second half of 2006 will have a 20% higher operating rate than AMD's products released at the same time. .

" Intel makes these comparisons simply because they cannot talk about the processing equipment that is on the market. Everyone understands that their current product is not good ," said Henri Richard, the market manager of AMD, comment.

Conroe and Merom are the first desktop and laptop chips to use Intel's next-generation microarchitecture (NGMA). In each clock cycle, the NGMA chip can handle more commands than the previous products thanks to the large cache (4 MB) and the solution to navigate smart commands through the central processor (CPU). .

Meanwhile, Richard thinks that NGMA chips are of course superior to Intel's old Netburst architecture, but not enough to overcome AMD's technology. Furthermore, AMD is focusing on developing new chip technology called AM2, which supports DDR2.

Richard also confirmed that the integrated memory controller is necessary because it allows the connection between the processor and memory to operate at a faster rate than Intel's in-chip FSB.
