Americans make the 100th walk out of space

On December 18, two American astronauts Peggy Whitson and Daniel Tani, on duty on the International Space Station (ISS), made the 100th space walk.

The main task of the two astronauts was to find out what caused the orbital lab to lose its main power source and to operate with the reserve power from December 8. After nearly 7 hours, they found only a slightly lost cable, not detected any damage.

Up to now, Peggy Whitson and Daniel Tani have each made five space walks. Whitson alone overtook astronaut Sunita Williams, becoming the longest astronaut female astronaut: she worked outside ISS 32 hours and 36 minutes in total.
