An asteroid named after Chinese scientist Xi Zezong
With the approval of the International Astronomical Association (IAU), an asteroid bearing the international number 85472 was named ' Xi Zezong Star ', the name of the famous Chinese scientist Xi Zezong.

Xi Zezong Star was discovered on June 9, 1997 by a group of researchers from the National Academy of Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
This day coincides with the 70th birthday of Professor Xi Zezong working at Xinglong Astronomical Observatory. He is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The naming of Xi Zezong for the asteroid to honor his important contributions to the study of natural science history, especially for the book he wrote entitled 'The Classification of Celestial Bodies in the old days' has caught the attention of international astronomers today.
