When he was alive, Tafuri had predicted: "Salento of the cool palm trees and the south wind will be covered with snow. Two days after the snow falls, two lightning flashes in the sky. I know what I don't expect will come. The world will eradicate ".

In the past two days, the image of white snow falling on the sunny beach in Salento is being shared widely on Instagram, making many people believe that the end of the world is about to follow the prophecy of Tafuri.

Along with most countries in Europe, Italy is experiencing an extremely cold period, including in the Salento peninsula in the south, where ice and snow are rarely available. Abnormal cold weather has caused schools in the area to close.

The Prophet Tafuri was born in Soleto, 400 km from the city of Salerno. He was dubbed the "Nostradamus of Italy " with predictions about the end of the world.

Born in 1492, Tafuri studied philosophy and medicine in Naples before moving to England, where he was accused of heresy and imprisonment. When released, he went to Ireland, France, Spain and Africa. He continued to be detained with allegations of performing evil in Soleto. After 15 months in prison, he lived his last years in his homeland in poverty and contempt of the local people.
