Apple has filed a patent application for a special glove for devices with touch screens like the iPhone.
Apple's application to the US Copyright Office notes that touch screen products such as the iPhone and iPod Touch are problematic in cold weather. The touch screen depends on the electrical response from the user's finger, so if you wear normal gloves the user will not be able to control the screen and they must remove the gloves.
Apple's solution will give the gloves a special inner layer, under the outer surface, to help stimulate the electrical response from the fingers.
Apple has submitted a copyright registration file, but it is unclear what new plans the company has. Apple rarely attacks the fiber and fabric accessories market, such as iPod socks or iPod pockets.
