At first it seemed as though it was only in science fiction novels, but L'Oréal's experts pledged to uncover the secret of hair thickening from car garage.

According to the Deccan Chronicle, the new ingredient in shampoo is filloxane, which acts as a silica molecule injected into a cracked car window .

Named as 'sol-gel' technology , the shampoo wraps on the crevices of the hair shaft and thickens the hair from the inside out.

In contrast, today's thickening agents often cover the hairs and are therefore only temporary solutions, according to a report at the Interactive Materials Research Conference in Lubeck, Germany.

According to data provided at the conference, shampoo containing 10% filloxane content can thicken the hair to 60% and product continues to maintain the use after 10 shampoo.
