Shampoo from shrimp shells decomposed

Perhaps no one imagines that decomposing shrimp shells can also be used to make shampoos. Recently, British scientists have discovered in the shrimp shell decomposition contains a new polymer can help smooth hair full of vitality.

The new findings are the result of research by scientists at Glyndwr University in northern Wales. They expect a new shampoo made from shrimp shells will be available soon.

According to research, the new polymer not only help hair retain moisture but also reduce split ends. This is considered to be of natural origin and environmentally friendly production process .

Chitosan is a biological polymer that has long been known. However, researchers have found a way to transform it to produce a new, better-performing polymer, said Prof. Pete Williams of Glyndwr University.

The finding is part of a two-year project to find environmentally-friendly new production methods, such as how to prevent crop insects, according to the Daily Post.

In order to conduct research, scientists need a lot of shrimp shells. The material is supplied by Seagarden, a Norwegian seafood company.

Funding for the research project was funded by Innovate UK and Norway's Innovation Norway.
