Atom chip towards the entertainment world

Intel Corporation recently announced that it will bring Atom processors into 'mobile' Internet access devices and a variety of other laptops.

Doug Davis, vice president of Intel Corporation, said: 'We have launched four Atom chips for automotive entertainment systems, video conferencing equipment, robots, or auto sales counters. . These energy-efficient mobile chips are capable of supporting multimedia technologies, as well as broadband Internet connections. '

Atom chips are super small and energy-efficient.

According to Davis, the Atom Z-500 processor line is an integrated chip, the size of a penny, low in power and without the need for a heat sink. These chips cost only 2.5W of power and run at about 1.10GHz to 1.6GHz, integrating 2D and 3D graphics.

So far, Atom chips are used for low-cost laptops, also known as netbooks and mobile Internet access devices (MIDs), or smartphones.

With the new chip generation, Intel is planning a strong attack on the chip market for 'portable' entertainment designs. The new chip will be launched in large quantities and in the second quarter of 2009. However, the specific price has not been disclosed.
