The source from VNPT said the detailed satellite design was completed on March 15. On July 15, the contractor began to assemble and assemble satellites. The system testing process was carried out from September and completed in February 2012 to bring Vinasat-2 satellite into orbit, expected in 5/2012.

VNPT explained that this plan changed compared to the previous one (April 2012) due to the design, contractor selection . slower than planned.

Vinasat-1 of Vietnam went into orbit in April 2008.

Another satellite will launch with Vinasat-2, a US, European or Japanese satellite. Currently, VNPT has not been able to pinpoint exactly which satellite will launch with Vinasat-2. However, the launch pad for Vinasat-2 is still FrenceGuiana in South America - the place where the first satellite launch - Vinasat-1.

According to VNPT, launching with your country's satellite is to save costs. Previously, on April 19, 2008, Arianespace's Ariane 5 rocket ended the journey to bring two of Vietnam 's Star One C2 - Brazil and Vinasat - 1 satellites into orbit at the same time.

Vinasat-2 is expected to be at 107 degrees East. This is one of three satellite orbits that the Radio Frequency Department has successfully registered in 2008. The investment for Vinasat-2 is about US $ 290-350 million.

In November 2010, VNPT signed a decision to borrow VND 1,092 billion to invest in the Vinasat satellite launch project 2. This credit is equivalent to about 20% of the total investment of the project.

The life of Vinasat-2 satellite is determined to be 15 years.
