Small satellite VNREDSat-1B (Viet Nam's natural resources and natural disaster monitoring satellite - 1B) originated from the PROBA satellite group.

VNREDSat-1B can capture super-spectral and full-color images of Vietnam and the rest of the world with a width of 100km, allowing monitoring of agricultural activities, forests, water quality in land and inshore sea, urban surface, . and contribute to the study of climate change.

VNREDSat-1B is 865mm x 679mm x654 mm and weighs about 130kg with a minimum life of 5 years. As expected, the VNREDSat-1B will fly on an orbit at an altitude of 640 +/- 10km and a repeating shooting time at a specified location is 5 days.

Equipment for receiving, operating and processing images taken by VNREDSat-1B will be installed in Hoa Lac, near Hanoi.

VNREDSat-1B is Vietnam's second remote sensing satellite. Earlier, the first remote sensing satellite VNREDSat-1 was launched into orbit in May 2013.
