Big brain makes smarter but less muscular?

Larger brains can help smarter but less muscular muscles on the body. This finding seems to be similar to a previous doctrine that the brain will favor smoking nutrients in the body to function.

Recent research by the US scientist found that larger brain size in primates accompanied by less muscle mass, according to the Daily Mail.

This result reinforces a doctrine that was devised in the 1990s, arguing that the body will prioritize nutrition for feeding. Experts believe that the priority of the body's ability to provide energy to the brain has enabled people to have the ability to think sensitively.

Research by scientists at North Texas University (USA) conducted on 10 different primates. They analyzed the data collected from the brains and muscle mass of monkeys that died of natural causes.

'When compared to many other animals, primates often have less muscle. What I found shows that primates with larger brains are especially less muscular, "said lead researcher Dr Magdalena Muchlinkski.

The results also show that primates are not only less muscular but some types of muscles needed for endurance activities such as running are also less than others. Calculating from studies shows that for a kilogram of brain to work at full capacity, it needs to consume up to 240 calories / day.

However, scientists still cannot be sure whether this phenomenon can occur in humans. The team said that in the future, more research will be conducted in humans, chimpanzees and gorillas to find the correct answer, according to the Daily Mail.
