Biggest underwater walker and deepest dive in the world

To study the ocean, scientists at the Institute of Marine Science and Technology of Korea have successfully created giant crab robot, capable of deep diving and walking on the ocean floor.

The giant robot is named the Crabster CR200 , a 635kg crustacean shaped body. Given its size and weight, the crab robot is capable of stabilizing on its six legs and stands firmly under strong ocean currents.

Researchers in Korea say the crab robot has officially become the largest underwater robot and the deepest diving ability in the world. Through research, giant crabs can dive more than 200 meters above sea level.

On the robot's body is equipped with 11 cameras, including the audio camera can capture through the white foam bursts with fast and accurate shooting speed, about 30 images per second. In addition, it is equipped with a color HD camera, used to zoom in extremely small objects in the ocean.

Using sound waves is the biggest advantage of the robot, it can be used to create 3D maps of the surrounding water and travel at a maximum speed of 1.6km / h. Scientists plan to bring crab robots to the Pacific coast of the Yellow Sea to help archaeologists investigate shipwrecks in the 12th century, hundreds of years ago.
