Birds are smarter than we thought
Perhaps, of the millions of animals on Earth, rare animals are as miserable as birds.
Why miserable? It is true that they fly, freedom of freedom is true, but still miserable. Suffering the life of a bird, always being scolded by humans is the short brain, the . bird's brain, even though they don't do anything wrong. Sometimes our brains are short, because the bird's head is so pathetic that everyone knows .
Suffering how a bird's life .
The thing is, chances are we will have to think again, because according to a recent study, the bird's brain is not short at all. Maybe their brains are small, but birds with intelligence are comparable to gibbons like chimpanzees and gorillas.
In particular, can pay special attention to the species of two crows and parrots . These are the two species that are already famous for possessing a special learning ability. They can use objects intentionally, identify themselves when looking in the mirror, or even parrots can mimic human language.
Parrots are one of the most intelligent birds.
The ability of these two animals to learn has been a huge question for scientists. But so far, research from Charles University (Czech Republic) has discovered that in the tiny brain of birds contains more brain cells than most mammals today.
Specifically, experts tested brain cells of 32 different bird species, including crows, parrots, ostriches and owls. Using a neuronal counting system, they found that the bird's brain had a larger number of brain cells than mammals. For example, the sparrow - only one-ninth weight, but the rate of brain cells is 2.3 times more.
Parrots and crows are two birds with the highest brain cells.
And not unexpectedly, crows and parrots are the two species with the highest rate of brain cells. Take for example a crow whose brain weighs 10.2 grams, but has 1.2 billion brain cells. While the monkey brain weighs 39.18 grams, it only has 1.1 billion cells.
According to experts, parrots and crows have many neurons, with large concentrations concentrated and compressed in the front brain. As a result, they process information faster, and at the same time, the ability to perceive is also extremely impressive, possibly equivalent to the smartest animals today like chimpanzees, orangutans, and gorillas.
The study is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (USA).
