Birth control pills for men
Researchers in the US have said that a new anti-cancer drug that works to prevent sperm in the laboratory in the laboratory has increased the hope of creating birth control pills for men.
The drug, called JQ1, was invented by chemist Jun Qi, originally invented for the purpose of anticancer drugs by breaking down the cancer-causing gene BRD4. But during lab tests in mice, scientists also discovered that JQ1 also works to significantly reduce both sperm count and quality, making male mice unable to conceive with female mice. OK.
JQ1 works like this because it contains small molecules that can sneak through the barrier separating blood vessels and specialized cells that produce sperm in the testes. While large molecules that cannot do this hinder the study of birth control pills for men before.
However, JQ1 also gives unwanted effects because it is associated with other proteins in the bromodomain protein domain. Even so, JQ1 still opens a new hope for creating a new drug for men to prevent pregnancy in the future. The use of oral contraceptives for men is helpful to overcome limitations compared to traditional methods such as condom use or vasectomy.
