Iran's National TV reported on Sept. 28 that the Ministry of Defense had just given the vehicle to the Republican Guard.

Bavar-2 , the name of the flying boats, was produced entirely by Iranian technology. Their bodies are specially designed to land on the ground and move underwater.

The Bavar-2 is equipped with a machine gun, a night-vision camera, and a signal transmitter, the Iranian ISNA news agency quoted General Ahmad Vahidi as saying. They have the ability to record and transfer data at all times. With the ability to " stealth " in front of the radar and signal, the Bavar-2 is very suitable for patrol and surveillance.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the few countries capable of designing, manufacturing and using aircraft in short periods of time ," Vahidi said.

The footage of dozens of Bavar-2 sailboats sailing from the water near Iran's Bandar Abbas port was broadcast on Press TV.

Production of the Bavar-2 is part of Iran's defense-enhancing program in the context of the international community's imposition of sanctions on its controversial nuclear program. The Iranian military has tested the Bavar-2 since last year.
