Broadcom launches a new chipset for handheld devices
On Monday (Jan. 29), Broadcom introduced two new chipsets and software for handheld devices with built-in Bluetooth wireless connectivity, which helps to improve sound quality and reduce noise. The size of the wireless device, and helps reduce the power consumption of the device.
BCM2047 and BCM2044 chipsets have higher anti-interference capabilities than other devices. BCM2047 is intended for high-end devices, while BCM2044 is suitable for devices without programming features.
BCM2047 is integrated with ARM AudioDE data engine, a high-performance digital signal processor for Broadcom's SmartAudio software. Meanwhile, BCM2044 is integrated with energy management features for low-cost devices.
According to Broadcom, SmartAudio is a technology that improves sound in noisy environments, capable of reducing the original noise to 95%. Broadcom's new chipset and audio software has not yet been distributed, and has only been offered to a limited number of its customers.
Bluetooth is a wireless specification used in handheld devices, used to exchange information between laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras and game consoles.
