HP launched Arches chipset
Hewlett-Packard (HP) launches a new type of chipset for its middle and high-end servers. The new chipset will increase performance by 30% compared to the current Pinnacles chipset.
The new sx2000 chipset (codenamed Arches) was originally designed for use with Integrity servers with Montecito dual-core chips (to be released by Intel in late 2006).
Because the dual-core chip Montecito launched late, HP turned to Arches to support Intel's existing Madison chip-mounted servers and the future will be Montecito-based servers. This chipset is currently used for Integrity rx7640, rx8640 and Superdome servers.
HP Chairman and CEO Mark Hurd said that in the next five years, the company will invest $ 5 billion in research and development, software, hardware, and services centered around Integrity-based servers. Itanium storage.
