Broken tanks, hundreds of thousands of lead waste sludge flow into the river
The bottom concrete slab of the lead and zinc waste tank of the factory in Cao Bang broke up, causing hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of water and lead and zinc sludge to spill into the environment, flowing into Gam river.
On the afternoon of January 5, the lead and zinc waste tank of CKC Co., Ltd., in Lang Ca village, Pac Mieu town, Bao Lam district, Cao Bang broke the bottom concrete slabs, causing hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of lead water and sludge, zinc spilled out, flowing into Gam river.

Reporter quoted Vu Ngoc Luu, Chairman of Bao Lam District People's Committee, said that the damage level of the incident has not been assessed yet. District leaders have requested CKC Co., Ltd. to quickly overcome the lowest consequences and limitations affecting the ecological environment and people's lives.
As a member of Viet Minerals Exploitation and Processing Joint Stock Company (based in Hanoi), CKC Co., Ltd. has nearly 400 Vietnamese workers and Chinese experts.
CKC Company's factory is more than 300km from Hanoi, 150km from Cao Bang City.
CKC lead-zinc processing factory is the No. 1 lead zinc producer in Vietnam with 2 production lines with capacity of 2,400 tons / day. The company is investing to install line 3 to increase the plant's capacity to over 3,500 tons / day.
