Butterfly serpent died against crocodiles under the lake

Crocodiles snuggle on snakes and constantly toss and batter to defeat animals in a national park in Sri Lanka.

Photographer Rishani Gunasinghe recorded a fierce battle between crocodiles and Yala, Sri Lanka national parks, Sun reported on 25 May."We met a small lake along the main road. This is the home of a small crocodile. It seems that most vehicles ignore and go through because the crocodile here is not rare," she recalls.

Gunasinghe spotted a bright, small creature nearby, so he decided to stop the car to take a closer look. The crocodile quickly grabs this creature and pulls it up. Initially, because she could only see the lower part of her stomach, she guessed it was a python.

"After taking a few snapshots, I saw the characteristic dots on his back and realized it was a butterfly cobra. It was interesting to see the butterfly cobra, one of the world's most unique snakes, in nature. " , Gunasinghe shared. Crocodiles bite the cobra's snake and constantly throw it to kill it. The fierce battle caused the water under the lake to bounce.

"Butterfly butterflies are fierce snakes. In Sri Lanka, they cause the most cases of snakebites, the highest number of deaths and the second most poisonous snake family on the island," Gunasinghe said.

Butterflies are thought to have the longest fangs in Sri Lanka snakes. They mostly eat rodents and arthropods, so it's hard to believe that this snake is aiming for crocodiles, she commented. The fierce battle ended with the successful crocodile defeating the butterfly cobra.
