Cao Bang Non Nuoc is recognized as a Global Geopark

On April 12, in Paris, the Advisory Council of the Global Geoparks Network of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially recognized Non Nuoc Geopark Cao Bang as Global geopark.

This is the second global geopark of Vietnam, after (Ha Giang province), which has been recognized by UNESCO since 2010.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung affirmed that the title of Global Geopark is a recognition by UNESCO of the rich diversity landscape, the cultural and spiritual values ​​of the Non Nuoc Cao Bang area. This will create conditions for the province to develop sustainably in the economic and social aspects, contributing to promoting and improving the lives of local people.

Non Nuoc Global Geopark Cao Bang is located in the top land of northern Vietnam, about 300km from Hanoi. The Park area is more than 3,000 km 2 , including six districts of Ha Quang, Tra Linh, Quang Uyen, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Phuc Hoa and a part of the districts of Hoa An, Nguyen Binh and Thach An. This is the living place of nine different ethnic groups, such as Tay, Nung, H'Mong, Kinh, Dao and San Chay .

Non Nuoc Global Geopark Cao Bang is a rare land, where you can learn the history of over 500 million years of Earth through the remaining traces here. Fossils, marine sediments, volcanic rocks, minerals ., especially limestone landscapes, are excellent examples of the evolution and change of the Earth, worthy of legacy Excellent geology. Non Nuoc Cao Bang is also famous for its biodiversity values ​​and many ecosystems and endemic flora and fauna.

Besides natural values ​​such as area, geological characteristics and biodiversity, Non Nuoc Cao Bang also contains many tangible and intangible cultural heritages, especially revolutionary historical relics. , including Pac Bo special national monument - where President Ho Chi Minh returned home in 1941 led the revolutionary movement after more than 30 years abroad; Special national monument of Tran Hung Dao forest - where in 1944 General Vo Nguyen Giap established the Vietnam Liberation and Propaganda Army, the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army today. Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark was born in 2015. In November 2016, Cao Bang province submitted a dossier to UNESCO to request the recognition of Non Nuoc Cao Bang as a Global Geopark.

In July 2017, the UNESCO survey team came to inspect and assess the criteria and progress of infrastructure construction and conservation work of the province.
