Charger for iPod and mobile phone
NTT Telecom (Japan) has just launched a solution to charge mobile phones such as iPods and phones with shoes while walking.
These shoes are integrated with a small generator in the base of water. Each step will create the force acting on the sole of the shoe, leading to the inner layer of water that will turn the turbine and generate electricity. Users just need to connect the device to the shoe while walking to be able to listen to music comfortably without fear of running out of battery.
However, these shoes do not have a charge function. Therefore, users must always connect their iPod to shoes and always walk to create an iPod power source.
Hideomi Tenma, NTT spokesperson, said the shoes will generate power with a capacity of 1.2W. This is enough capacity for iPods to listen to music, and the company is trying to improve this capacity to 3W for mobile phones.
NTT hopes products will soon reach users in 2010.
