Cheap LED Lamps
LED lights are recognized for their beautiful, energy-saving lighting. However, they are not widely used because of the high cost.

Common light bulbs cost $ 1, compact fluorescent lamps cost $ 4 while 60-watt LEDs cost $ 15-25. Now, Osram Opto Semiconductors has announced a solution to lower the price of LEDs.
White LED prototypes use gallium nitride coated with yellow phosphorus, which is the basis of expensive sapphire gems. Osram Opto Semiconductors with silicon-based substitute sapphire substrate technology can reduce the cost of a third of the cost and can be reduced more when manufacturing. The new Osram Opto Semiconductors LEDs will produce 127 lumens of brightness per watt of power, which optimizes the product's performance and hopes to be available in the next 2-3 years.
But the new LED technology is not exclusive because Bridgelux in California is working with Toshiba to produce low-cost LEDs. Meanwhile, Plessey Semiconductors from the UK, Samsung is not out of the race.
Osram Opto Semiconductors does not disclose how cheap LEDs will be, while Bridgelux and Plessey believe the silicon approach can reduce costs by less than 75 percent so that 75 watt LEDs will cost under $ 5. .
