According to the Chinese Ministry of Information, mobile giants such as Nokia and Motorola hold a huge market share in the world's most populous market. Domestic phone manufacturers only sell a total of 50 million units in both domestic and international markets.
In parallel with the Chinese market, global mobile phone sales in 2006 also increased by 25% to a record 1 billion units. As predicted, this sales will grow about 20% in 2007.
" It is the booming economy of the world that has led to a strong growth in the mobile phone market. It allows people to upgrade to new phones more often ," Xie said.
Last year, the total number of mobile subscribers in China reached 461 million, an increase of 68 million compared to 2005. " On average, every 21 months, Chinese users will buy new machines once ."
