China closed airports for snow storms

Heavy snow in northeastern China has closed the three airports, the flight schedule of more than 1,000 people cannot be achieved.

According to the Northeast Air Traffic Control Center of the General Aviation Administration of China, Dao Tien International Airport in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province and Thai Binh International Airport in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province closed at 1 pm (local time) yesterday (November 20).

The airport in Harbin reopened about three hours later, when the airport in Shenyang resumed operation an hour later. Long Gia Airport in Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province closed at midday but opened again at 2.30pm. At least 14 flights have been affected.

Many of the strongest snowstorms this winter occurred in northeastern China reduced visibility to 300 meters at Dao Tien airport. Particularly yesterday, nearly half of incoming and outgoing flights had to be postponed. The airport has about 150 flights per day.

Snow began to fall heavily at 11:30 am in Shenyang, making five highways closed (including one connecting the city center to the airport). Yesterday was also the coldest day in winter this year (up to this point) in Shenyang, with the lowest temperature of -12 o C, wind power reaching 60km / hour. In Jilin Province, the lowest temperature is -18 o C to -15 o C.

In early March of this year, the strongest snowstorm in 56 years created a major disturbance in Dalian - the coastal city of Liaoning when power supply, heating and water were interrupted in some areas.
