China: in turn, fish contaminated with chemicals cause cancer
After the bird egg scandal with red yolk because of Sudan IV color products, the Chinese food industry was shocked with the news that some fish contaminated with malachite blue dye also cause cancer. Perch from Guangdong province and flounder from Shandong province are infected with this extremely toxic chemical.
On November 26, the Hong Kong government decided to ban the consumption of mainland Chinese perch after the local food and sanitation agency confirmed the existence of malachite in the test specimens.
A large supermarket in Hong Kong admitted importing perch from a market registered in Guangdong. Meanwhile, a series of cities, including Beijing, also prohibit the consumption of flounder at markets and restaurants after the Shanghai government announced the discovery of large amounts of nitrofuran and chloromycetin cancer-causing chemicals. .
The cause of fish poisoning is determined by aquaculturists feeding fish food to increase the fish's ability to fight disease in excessive quantities, while these foods contain many cancer-causing chemicals. .
Facing this situation, the Fisheries Quality Assurance Agency under the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture announced it would open a nationwide survey from now until the end of the year.
