The complex of the airport terminal building covers an area of ​​313,000 square meters, including the central area and 5 branches that spread to the sides, modeled after the phoenix spreading its wings, according to the construction contractor Beijing Construction Engineering Group. The design of five wings will use typical images of Chinese culture such as silk, tea, ceramics, arable land and gardens.

With the 5-wing shape, Dai Hung airport aims to reduce the walking time for passengers. The airport management board said the distance between the security check-in and the aircraft door was the farthest to not exceed 600m, equivalent to 8 minutes on foot.

The construction of the $ 11.5 billion project began in 2014 with more than 40,000 workers during peak hours. The airport terminal is designed in the style of architect Hadid with contour effects and natural light shining through more than 8,000 windows on the roof.
