Chinese scientists have created a new type of artificial skin that has tremendous medical significance for patients who need skin transplants. Professor Jin Yan of the Fourth Military Medical University, China, interviewed the Xi'an Evening Post on Monday, said his Army Medical University 4 had successfully fabricated artificial skin.

In the exhibition on Monday, Chinese experts cautiously showed everyone a milky white sticky film with a diameter of 20cm contained in an implanted dish.

The United States was once the only country to have artificial skin technology before it was able to cure its own burned patients.

Professor Jin Yan said that this artificial skin has two layers: epidermis and dermis with very flexible cells. They can grow quickly with the original skin without worrying about the immune system being eliminated.

The Chinese Food and Drug Administration has issued a certificate for this artificial skin study. Professor Jin Yan said that more than 15 million Chinese suffer from skin burns and sores every year, an estimated 3.5 million people are in need of a transplant.

Before the appearance of artificial skin, most cases of skin transplants need to be donated. Otherwise, the doctor must take the skin from another part of the patient to transplant into the affected area.
