In Ankara, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan followed the launch with hundreds of others directly. 'This is the history of our country , ' said Mr. Erdogan after the launch. 'We are reaching the position of being one of 25 countries capable of producing satellites'.

Prime Minister Erdogan also said that the next target is that Turkey will become one of the few countries with its own launchers.

Meanwhile, China sees satellite launches as part of its ambitious space mission. The country brought its first female traveler, Liu Yang, into space earlier this year, on the Shenzhou-9 ship in China's first manual connection in space. Last month, China launched a European-produced telecommunications satellite into orbit. In September, Chinese missiles also launched an earth observation satellite for Venezuela.
