China will have mobile WiMax service in 2007
On November 13, 2006, speaking at a conference in Singapore, Hwan Woo Chung, vice president of Mobile WiMax Group of Samsung Electronics, said the company has delivered mobile WiMax equipment to a Chinese customer and is negotiate with another customer about providing the same equipment. According to Chung, the first company will not offer national mobile WiMax networks but only use technology for special applications in some provinces. Mobile WiMax is used to provide commercial services in Korea and is being launched elsewhere.
Samsung is one of the first companies to offer mobile WiMax technology, download speeds can reach 10.2Mbps while traveling at 120 km / hour. Samsung hopes that by the third quarter of 2007, it will push the download speed to about 40Mbps.
In 2006, Samsung signed 20 contracts and is negotiating many other mobile WiMax test network contracts.
