'City wall' appeared after the earthquake in New Zealand
The natural city wall of up to 4.5 meters high was formed at the site of the recent 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Kaikoura New Zealand.
The earthquake on November 14 occurred in Kaikoura, 965km north of Christchurch. For the first time after the disaster, scientists were allowed to enter the area around the epicenter and discovered a wall of a city like Hadrian in the north of England.
Dr. Kate Pedley (University of Canterbury) photographed at the wall.
The part of the road is broken after an earthquake.
Many roads near the epicenter were paralyzed, only military vehicles could pass.
Roads, fields, hillsides in the beautiful countryside of New Zealand are disturbed. The earthquake was so powerful that it created a dam on the Leader River.
Both the faulted area is 3.2 km long, with a width of up to 2.2m, and a height of up to 1.5m.The group of scientists also "rescued" a sheep from a 1.5m deep crack.
The area around the epicenter was also liquefied, causing damage to local roads.
