Closed the last typewriter factory
The world's last typewriter company has just announced the closure of its manufacturing plant in Mumbai (India).
The typewriter used to be a necessary device in any office. However, with the development of science and technology, computers have gradually replaced outdated and obsolete typewriters in most regions and territories in the world.
However, typewriters are still quite popular in India until recently when consumers switched to using computers because of the lack of convenience of typewriters.
Godrej & Boyce is a nearly 60-year-old typewriter company that has been forced to close its manufacturing plant in Mumbai (India) because there are no orders for this product.
Godrej & Boyce started producing typewriters in the early 50s of the last century. They sold 50,000 units a year, but last year this number dropped to only 800. By the time the factory was closed, there were still 200 typewriters in their inventory. The main market of this company is defense units, courts and state agencies.
