Coffee helps to look pink

Caffeine in coffee makes people feel the positive elements in their surroundings faster and more accurately.

After drinking caffeine, it seems that people do simple mental tasks more easily. A previous study demonstrated that when you see words that have a positive meaning - like 'happiness' - people will realize that they are faster and more accurate than negative words - like 'sad' .

To find out what causes people to perceive more quickly and positively, Lars Kuchinke, an experimental psychologist at Ruhr University in Germany, decided to do an experiment with caffeine in coffee. Kuchinke and his colleagues asked 66 volunteers to look at the computer screen, where meaningful and meaningless words appeared randomly. Volunteers must point out meaningful words quickly and accurately. Half of the volunteers took placebo, and half of them took pills containing 200mg of caffeine about 30 minutes before looking at the screen.

The results showed that those who drank caffeine opted for positive words more quickly and accurately than words that were negative or neutral. A similar situation did not occur in the group of people taking placebo, Livescience reported.

'Although caffeine increases brain activity, its effect is only evident for words that have a positive meaning , ' Kuchinke said.

Several previous studies have shown that caffeine can stimulate the central nervous system by enhancing the activity of dopamine, a neurochemical that can create a sense of euphoria.

Kuchinke's team will continue to research to find out whether caffeine is able to help people identify positive shades or faces.
