Sales of laptops and similar products in Russia last year increased by 50% while PC sales fell by 10%. Along with laptops and netbooks, tablet PCs also rise and share the market.

According to GfK's analysis by the end of last year, Russia sold 4.4 million notebooks and tablets, worth $ 3 billion, if measured by units, it was 51.6% more than in 2009 and money 91% more. Meanwhile, desktop computers only had sales of $ 925.1 million (up 30%), but down by 10.5%, with 1,710,000 units.

In terms of brand names, Asus tops with 21%, followed by Acer (19%), Samsung (16%), HP (9%), Lenovo (8%) . In the fourth quarter, Samsung suddenly rose. led by Asus and HP later. Acer dropped to fourth.

In general, the top 5 computer manufacturers (Samsung, Asus, HP, Acer and Lenovo) control 80% of the laptop market in Russia. Apple's market share of both computers and mobile phones is still below 1%. Most computers in Russia are assembled by the seller.

According to Gartner's forecast, desktop PC sales this year will fall by 16%, but another forecast is that it will only drop 10.6% with 387.8 million units sold. In 2012, sales of desktop and notebook computers are expected to increase by 13.6% to 440.6 million units.

Perhaps in the future, Russia's computer market will suffer from the attacks of tablet devices. And beyond that, the PC will become extinct like a dinosaur, a time that absolutely dominates the world.
