Control the robot by thinking
Honda has introduced a new technology that allows people to command robots by thinking without using a remote control or using a voice.
That is the result of the achievement of the sensor technology that Honda achieved. Accordingly, the commands such as moving, running, eating ... are recognized by small currents obtained on the skin in the head. According to Honda experts, these currents are formed by altering the amount of blood circulating in the human brain as they think.
Electrodes come in contact with the scalp to recognize human thoughts.
This success of Honda, immediately applied to the control of the famous robot Asimo. At a technology demonstration in Tokyo, a staff member wearing a hats hat had multiple electrodes and thought about moving the left arm. The electrodes attached to the helmet recognize that thought and transmit the signal to Asimo. Immediately this robot raised his left arm.
Robot Asimo held up his hand as ordered by the tester.
Honda says the new technology is not yet ready for life's trials because of the disturbance in human thinking. Another problem is that different individuals have different brain signal patterns, so it takes two to three hours for the robot robot to recognize the "new" user brain before use. "The practical applications are still very far away," said Yasuhisa Arai, executive director of the Honda Research Institute.
Asimo's marketing is essentially marketing Honda products.
The technology used in robotics is usually taken from the research results Honda has applied in the product or the first step for testing new products. For example, thinking about robots is a technology that is part of the strategy of producing cars without steering wheels, driven by the brain. So, introducing smart robots with "extraordinary" capabilities is a very effective PR strategy for Honda. Organizing robot exchanges with children around the world is a way for companies to market their products to prospective customers.
