The vaccine, called CIMAVAX-EGF and works directly on tumors, differs from other anti-cancer methods such as chemotherapy and radiation, as well as killing cancer cells and killing off healthy cells.

Cuba's anti-cancer vaccine is the result of 15 studies by scientific staff of Havana Molecular Immunization Center . This is the only drug currently available to allow late-stage lung cancer to be 'controlled chronic disease' . The CIMAVAX-EGF vaccine is registered for epidemiology in Cuba in June 2008 and now Cuba is promoting registration procedures in a number of South American countries, including Colombia, Brazil and Argentina.

Dr Honsales said the cancer vaccine is based on protit that everyone has - epidermal factors involved in cell division, which go out of control when cancer. The normal body only accepts 'what is needed' and removes ' foreign things ', so to make vaccines it is necessary to create chemical compounds to produce antibodies in this protit. .

CIMAVAX-EGF started to be introduced after patients had received chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The use of new vaccines is considered the last stage of treatment and there is no alternative. Tumor growth is inhibited without the use of any toxic chemicals. This vaccine also works to improve the quality of life and prolong life for patients.

Cuba plans to build a joint-venture factory with Ukraine to produce anti-cancer vaccines .
