Deathhole in the living room in England

A British family just discovered under the living room sofa has a "death hole", believed to be a historical site from the 16th century.

For nearly three centuries, Colin Steer and Vanessa's family in Plymouth, Devon have always wondered why the land where the sofa was laid down. Finally, when retired, Colin took the time to learn about the house and found a medieval well more than 10 meters deep under the chair.

Colin Steer said that before he changed the floor mats, he saw a dent, so he dug a small hole about 30 centimeters deep, but Mrs. Vanessa immediately filled it because at that time his family had three good kids to play.

"I always wanted to dig the floor to see if there was any gold or treasure under it, until I retired last year I had the chance to do it," Colin Steer told the Telegraph.

With the help of his best friend, Colin took three days to dig to the bottom of the "death hole". During the digging process, he also found an ancient sword."It's like a farmer's combat weapon, because it's made of cheap metal , " he said.

Colin said his residence used to be a forest until 1895 when the artificial canal, built in the 16th century, brought water from Dartmoor to Plymouth.

"I really like the hole, it's great. My family owns a part of Plymouth's history. I want to ask the person to verify the date of the well," Mr. Colin said.

However, his wife is not very excited. Mrs. Vanessa said: "I hate the hole. When we sell the house I hope to get a high price because there's a hole."
