Decipher the mysteries that surround the event: American pilots 'fight' with aliens

The 'air battle' lasted 27 minutes
Lieutenant George F. Gorman is a veteran pilot, experienced in World War II, but he was stunned when he encountered a strange object in the sky over Fargo, North Dakota (USA). on October 1, 1948.
The event has been likened to an 'air battle' between Gorman and an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) controlled by aliens. This is one of the most mysterious encounters since the first days the phenomenon was discussed.
Gorman is said to have witnessed a bright white ball emanating from an object whose speed seemed to completely surpass that of the P-51 Mustang he was piloting at the time.

The object was also seen by people on the ground, but when Gorman flew to intercept him, he was confronted with a high-speed 'cat and mouse' race that lasted 27 minutes.
The official story then spread was that the experienced pilot Gorman had simply encountered a glowing weather balloon or was baffled by the unusually bright Jupiter phenomenon.
However, that argument never convinced Gorman. He bluntly told friends: 'never believe that I have dueled with a lighted ball for 27 minutes'.
Gorman died in 1982, but his story remains an unsolved mystery to this day. The unusual encounter continues to cause controversy as UFOs have now become the center of talk in Washington DC associated with fringe conspiracy theories.

Mystery surrounds
According to Chris Lehto, an experienced F-16 pilot who also investigated Gorman's incident, the incident began when Gorman and his fellow pilots were on their way back to Hector Airport.
When the other pilots had separated from the group, Gorman decided to stay in the air so he could practice night flying in a cloudless sky.
As he swooped down into a packed stadium where the North Dakota Bison vs Augustana Vikings match was taking place, Gorman spotted something in the sky he couldn't explain: It was a sphere. white flashing light.
Gorman decided to contact air traffic control, but they said only he and a civilian Piper Cub plane were nearby.
Driving the P-51 into the air, Gorman conducted an investigation, but the object suddenly sped away from him, accelerating to about 600 mph (965 km/h).

What happened next was the amount of time Gorman took to slam into the object at full speed for almost half an hour. The shadow of the foreign object enveloped his plane and the speed seemed to completely surpass the P-51.
Gorman described it as a 'clear white object with absolutely no fluff at the edges'. The object performed acrobatic maneuvers such as turning 180 degrees, climbing steep slopes and rushing straight into his flight path.
'It flashes and goes off continuously. However, as I approached, the light suddenly became stable and became sharp,' Gorman reported back to investigators.
As the 'air battle' progressed, the air traffic controllers at the control tower at Hector Airport also detected the lights. The pilot and passengers on the civilian Piper Club plane also witnessed the same scene.
Gorman pushed his plane to the limit but still couldn't match the UFO.
Twenty-seven minutes after the encounter began, the UFO plunged vertically, moving so far and so fast that Gorman could not follow and lost track.
In a troubled mood before the mysterious event, Gorman landed his fighter plane. In the following hours, he was sworn in before the first official US investigation of UFOs called 'Project Sign'.
Using a Geiger radiometer, investigators found that Gorman's P-51 Mustang was significantly radioactive, but the cause was attributed to the altitude at which he was flying.
Gorman told investigators: 'I firmly believe that the movements of a UFO took place. I also believe that the body is governed by the law of inertia because its acceleration is fast but not abrupt and although it can make a quick turn with considerable speed it still follows a natural arc' .
'I'm still in pretty good physical condition and I don't believe there are many pilots who can withstand turns and speed affected by an object and still be conscious.
'The object was not only able to turn and accelerate faster than my aircraft, but it was also able to climb slopes better and maintain a continuous climb, outstripping my aircraft'.
Project Sign rated Gorman as a 'sincere and serious individual' who 'was very bewildered by his experience and did not attempt to exaggerate the story'.
Meanwhile, air traffic controller Lloyd D. Jensen was also rated as 'reliable, thoughtful and careful with his observations'. His colleague - HE Johnson was also described as 'stern, quiet, doesn't like to impress'.
Project Grudge
Civilian pilot Piper Cub, Dr LN Cannon, was described as 'vigilant, quick-witted and very capable' but he was said to 'was not impressed with the incident'. Instead, he believes the object is simply a Canadian fighter jet.
Project Sign investigators initially believed 'something remarkable' happened that night in the skies above Fargo. However, later UFO investigations in Project Grudge and Project Blue Book found the incident to be reevaluated and classified it as simply 'just a weather balloon'.

Even so, for many people, the above explanations are still unsatisfactory. They believe that Gorman's story must have been an unusually early confrontation with UFOs.
Gorman has never publicly talked about the unusual 'meeting' in the sky that day after the initial fuss. He was threatened with a military court if he did so.
However, Gorman's story is another piece of the UFO puzzle.
US officials denied the existence of UFOs at the end of Project Blue Book in the 1960s and said 'nothing was seen'.
However, even though five decades have passed, the debate has returned and is being treated as a serious national security issue for the United States.
A topic that for decades was considered harmful and eccentric is now being talked about openly by very high-profile figures, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
US lawmakers have authorized the Pentagon to report UFOs after a series of stunning videos were leaked showing recent military encounters with strange objects.
Washington is also promoting discussions regarding UFOs with the proposal of a new bill to protect witnesses.
