Decode the strange effect behind the 300 dead reindeer events in Norway

A lightning strike brought a sad record for Norway, when more than 300 reindeer died. But in return, two years later, the effect was amazing.

In 2016, Norway had a sad record that they did not want to set up at all, when in Hardangervidda, south of the country.

Reindeer carcass lies.

Specifically, according to Norway's environmental authority, this is an unprecedented disaster. 70 of 323 dead reindeer are young children, making this the largest collective death event in the history of the world.

The cause of the tragedy is said to be because the storm caused reindeer to stand together, so that when lightning struck, all died. The mysterious problem is that it is not clear whether a lightning bolt is enough to cause tragedy, or even a lightning strike.

Experts then took the reindeer's head to study, leaving the corpses in the mountains.

Ignore, that action has brought about a very unexpected effect for nature. According to new research from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and the University of Southeastern Norway, these corpses have become a source of promoting this mountainous plant variety to a new level.

Specifically, experts have set up a mobile laboratory in the mountains of Hardangervidda. They found that corpses could attract a lot of predatory animals, bringing plant seeds from other places. And because there are many caribou corpses here, the carnivorous species are also more concentrated, and seeds appear more.

Even though it was so catastrophic, the whole area was gradually recovering.

Sam Steyaert, a member of the research team, said they saw woverine wolves, eagles, foxes . and hundreds of ravens coming here. They ate the body, then . went to the bridge on the spot. In the excrement there are seeds of many different plants - especially a plant called "strawberry crow" (crowberry). And now, those berries are continuing to flourish.

Strawberry raspberries are one of the most influential plant species in an area, as it is an important source of food. They grow in fertile soils, and decomposing bodies also contribute to the fertility of this area.

According to experts, the genetic improvement effect will continue for a long time, because cranberry trees are starting to produce "products" already.
