Design an inflatable house for life on Mars
British artists on August 15 presented a two-story inflatable house design that could help humans colonize the harsh red planet.
Artists Ella Good and Nicki Kent brought together space scientists, architects, engineers, designers and even children to explore how people could live on Mars. This house is the result of a seven-year research process. It was designed by a team of experts with experience in creating buildings for extreme conditions like those found in Antarctica.
The 53-square-foot two-storey house is powered by solar panels and is resistant to average temperatures of -63 degrees Celsius. It has a living room surrounded by hydroponic plants, helping those who need to grow a family. occupants relax and support a healthy diet.
The team looked at both transporting materials to the red planet and using what's available there, including a homemade concrete made of water and hard earth that can be found on the planet's surface.

"It's important to live on Mars that your buildings are completely airtight because the outside atmosphere is essentially toxic. Then it needs to be able to block out all cosmic radiation and So our house will be built partly underground, inside in the amazing craters that exist under the surface of Mars. That's where the bedroom and bathroom are located. The living room - the yellow inflatable part - will be on the ground," said Hugh Broughton, the house's principal architect.
The prototype of the Mars home is currently on display at the public art project in the British city of Bristol and will be open to the public from late August to late October. The project also aims to show how humans can live more sustainably on Earth.
"This is a place for people to think about life in the future and how the prospect of life on Mars relates to the way we live on Earth. Because when you're on Mars, you have to live in a community. really small. You'll have to fix everything when it breaks and look at every aspect of your daily life," Ella added.
