Desks against obesity!
Anti-obesity experts have developed a vertical desk that helps employees exercise and lose weight even when they are working. This special table is a product of Minnesota's Mayo Hospital, designed for staff who spend 2-3 hours a day. It includes a computer, keyboard and a treadmill.
Photo: Mayo Clinic The frame of the table is made of steel, H-shaped, mounted on 4 rubber wheels to help the table can move easily. There is also room for personal items such as vases, cups for drinking water, pens, paper trays ...
With this table, users can both run and work just as well. If they want, they can also remove the treadmill and replace it with a high chair for work. The speed of the treadmill can also be adjusted to suit each user.
The Mayo Clinic says the $ 1,600 table can help obese people lose 30 kilograms a year.
15 obese people volunteered to experiment with this table. They burned an average of 191 calories per hour using the table compared to 72 calories when sitting at their old desk.
Obesity is growing in both developed and developing countries, and many people blame life so busy that they do not have time to exercise. In addition, having to work with a computer also makes them more fat.
