The real cause of obesity
Researchers at Shanghai Jiaotong University found that obesity may be caused by a type of bacteria called enterobacter rather than overeating or exercising too little. This result is published in the journal of the International Society of Ecological Microbiology.
The researchers conducted experiments on mice that were bred to be able to fight obesity. These mice were still ill despite being fed a rich diet and kept out of motion. However, when they are injected with human enterobacter bacteria , they quickly become obese.
The report of Shanghai Jiaotong University said enterobacter bacteria were first connected to obesity after a high amount of this bacterium was found in the intestine of an obese volunteer.
Enterobacter bacteria
The researchers said a patient had a 28.5kg reduction after nine weeks of a 'whole-grain, traditional Chinese medicine and prebiotics' diet . This is due to the fact that diet has significantly reduced the presence of enterobacter bacteria in the patient's intestine.
Scientists hope that they will have more insight into obesity bacteria through conducting research on different neighborhoods in the future.
