Desktop computers in business activities of small and medium enterprises
Desktop applications (PC) to operate small and medium enterprises is not a difficult task but should be considered seriously. Everything is possible unrest. Applications may not be compatible with new or existing operating systems and users may lose important settings and documents. We talked with Mr. Mike Tan - Senior Regional Manager for DELL's growing and Vietnamese markets on this issue.
* What do SMEs require for desktop computers and what should be noted when buying a large number of desktop computers for employees?
- A desktop computer should have a reliable platform to ensure daily office performance. The first and most important thing is to buy any software program or hardware device from a reputable supplier. When it comes to buying multiple desktops, it is best for small and medium enterprises to buy from a supplier simultaneously (and it would be better if they could buy servers, printers and monitors from the same source ). Moreover, when problems arise, products need to receive full support from the manufacturer. This is an important and essential part for small and medium enterprises because most of these enterprises do not have specialized IT staff to solve problems. Most decisions to buy a PC are based on a combination of computer specifications, most notably processor speed, memory capacity and storage.
If small and medium enterprises need to equip from 100 desktops, consider managing PCs such as Dell OptiPlex with many features designed to make management and deployment easier and more economical. The OptiPlex range uses synchronous hardware and software that is durable, thus minimizing upgrade costs. The devices are designed to help users switch quickly and easily. In addition, small and medium enterprises can control and administer remote computers via current software. Many managed computers are also designed to be compact and are the ideal choice for narrow workspaces.
* What are the differences between PCs for retail users and PCs for businesses? Can small and medium enterprises use PC for individual users?
- When manufacturing computers for business operations, manufacturers pay attention to strengthen some specific aspects such as software stability; corresponding technologies for users in business operations; simplify deployment and management . And PCs for individual users are designed according to different uses of users such as photography, music, entertainment . Although Small and medium enterprises can buy and use PCs for retail users or vice versa, but these computers may not meet the business requirements of businesses. Therefore, the results will always be higher when equipped with a PC designed specifically to deliver business performance.

* How will small and medium enterprises ensure security for newly equipped computers?
- One of the most important issues that small and medium enterprises can do to protect their PCs is to keep up to date with anti-virus programs and firewall construction. Most antivirus and firewall programs set up the automatic update mode of the latest prevention methods. Small and medium enterprises should also consider a defense class at the email server level. Additional anti-virus programs for Exchange Server as well as most other popular email servers are available. However, these programs should not be used to replace standalone antivirus programs.
Policies that limit download and use of personal applications can save a lot of costs for troubleshooting and other support costs. The password needs to be changed often. Central servers and routers should be stored in a safe, clean and well-ventilated place. Small and medium enterprises should also have a good backup system. Backup strategies should be carried out in different classes.
* What industry trends are available for business PCs?
- Some of the latest trends in business desktop manufacturing technology such as: PCI-Express; Serial ATA hard drive; Higher speed memory with DDR2; EM64T.
* Why should small and medium enterprises consider Dell's business computers for their business needs? Specifically, what does Dell bring to businesses that are planning to buy a large number of PCs for business?
- Dell OptiPlex desktop computers are developed for customers who need the most reliable systems in network environments such as businesses and governments. Wide compatibility also contributes to the stability of the OptiPlex system.
