Detecting underground lake in Darfur
Photographs from satellites have discovered a groundwater lake with an area of 30,750 km 2 (equivalent to the area of Lake Erie - the 10th largest lake in the world) in the area of conflict Darfur in Sudan, Africa.

According to analysts, finding a water source can end the conflict here.
With the consent of the Sudanese authorities, Boston University researchers said it would drill about 1,000 wells to get water from the lake.
Experts say the main cause of the conflict in Darfur is water shortages. In addition, in June, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also affirmed that climate change is the main cause of conflict in Darfur. In the Darfur region, in the past 40 years the desert has been ' widened ' for 100 km, while the forest has been reduced by 12% in just 15 years.
